I made these protein energy balls for a quick, healthy snack that satisfies your sweet and salty cravings but will help keep you feeling satisfied.

Some nutritional facts as to what makes these healthy… they have protein from the nut butter, the flax seed offers omega-3s, 75-800x the amount of lignans compared to any other plant (lignans offer both plant estrogen and antioxidant qualities), as well as both soluble and insoluble fiber, the chia seeds  offer fiber, antioxidants, high amounts of magnesium and manganese, protein and fiber. The oatmeal is very high in manganese and vitamin B. The oats help to stabilize blood sugar, so you’re not going to get a drop in blood sugar like you do after eating sugary and processed foods. The honey is used as a little natural sweetener, and it helps to hold everything togather. When using local honey, can help control allergies. Coconut offers a lot of potassium. The chocolate, well, it’s chocolate!

I like to use organic raw almond butter, all organic ingredients and local honey, and the chocolate chips I use are the ‘Enjoy Life: Dairy, Nut, & Soy free’ chocolate chips. I like these because they aren’t full of sugar; they’re made out of evaporated cane juice, all natural alcohol-free chocolate liquor and cocoa butter.

Now on the the recipe so you can start making your own! This recipe made about 10. I like to store them in the fridge especially in the summer months.

2.5 TBS organic chia seeds

2.5 TBS organic organic gluten free oatmeal
